SBH Ride Updates

Weather Looks Good for Lenise’s Cafe Ride Tomorrow...

Looks like tomorrow’s weather will be similar to today with maybe a little more fog first thing in the morning. Last time I rode the long gravel route down to Pumphouse Rd. and discovered there were a lot of migrating water fowl (trumpeter swans, pelicans & snow geese) in the canal next to the road, not to mention some great views of the mountains in the distance since it’s up on a levee. I also found that Pumphouse Rd was not nearly as bumpy as I thought when I drove it. And it has a lot less gravel than the other levee gravel roads along the Sacramento River and Deep Water Canal. If you have wider road tires (> 28 mm) you could probably ride that road rather than Willowpoint Rd, if you’re doing the long road route, but you will cut off at least 2 miles. I plan to sweep the long gravel route if anyone else is doing it. Otherwise, I will sweep one of the shorter routes. Here are the RWGPS links for the 4 routes.

I just revised the cue in Miller Park where you turn left through the opening on the left side of the yellow gate onto Miller Park Circle. That was not obvious to some people who don’t ride through there often. Since I just made these changes, just be aware that the Excel spreadsheet may not have been revised yet if you use that. I will bring updated printed cue sheets for those who want them. Also if you downloaded the RWGPS routes previously, I would download them again unless you know where to turn in Miller Park. Don’t forget the ride starts at 9 am at the northeast corner of the South Hills Shopping Center parking lot near the corner of South Land Park Dr. and 35th Ave.
