SBH Ride Updates

Winters Ride Tomorrow
Author Last Post

Just heard on the news that there is a 55-hr closure of the eastbound connector from Hwy 50 to I-80 up to Reed Ave. One way to get around this closure is to stay on Hwy 50 to I-5 to get to I-80. At this point, I plan to go to Winters and back thru Woodland and avoid the causeway and West Sac altogether in both directions. This may or may not help those who live off of Hwy 50. As I said before, check your GPS in the morning before you head out to be sure what works best for you.

My ride from Winters to Vacaville is happening tomorrow. It will be the last time I lead this ride until next October. I did move the start time up to 9 am due to the heat, but it’s already going to be 74 F by that time. It will reach about 90 F by 1 pm, but the winds will be light (<5 mph).

Here are the RWGPS links for both routes:

Long: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/41429096

Due to the heat, I will only be sweeping the 36 mile route, so find someone to ride with if you plan to do the long route. The ride starts at 9 am from the northwest corner of the parking lot next to Steady Eddy’s near Railroad Ave and Abbey St.

BTW, you might want to check your GPS before leaving because traffic in the west bound direction on Hwy 50 usually backs up around West Sac due to road construction. There might be faster options for getting to Winters than staying on Hwy 50. If you normally take I-80 to get on the causeway, it might faster to take I-5 north to Woodland and then 113 down to Covell Blvd. That’s how I plan to get there.
