As we are entering the peak season for the bike shop industry, my work schedule has increased to four days--Fridays through Mondays--across two shops. Therefore the Fri. and Sat. rides have been discontinued effective immediately. Going forward there will be just two rides listed per week, on Wed. and Thu. I won't be available Apr. 30-May 1, so no ride will be listed for either date; my availability also will be iffy for one week in mid-June, so the two rides scheduled for that part of the month may be canceled without much notice. All that said, two dozen Barrio rides are planned for next quarter. These should be posted to the club calendar before the end of this week.
In the past I've put a lot of effort into randomizing the routes to minimize visiting a given venue too often. Now that a third fewer rides are being listed, this isn't much of an issue, so I've simply organized the rides alphabetically according to the names of their rest stops. So they progress from Aviator's Cafe to Whitey's Drive In; by mid June we'll have used all the routes so the list will reset.
A new route will be introduced on Apr. 17--it stops at Chaii Cafe, a relatively new coffeehouse located in a former Starbucks at 65th and Broadway. The drinks menu is pretty exotic and, I'm sure, unique in this region, so this should make for an interesting addition to the route roster.
