SBH Ride Updates

Ride to Pause Coffee in Loomis Tomorrow (9/4)
Author Last Post

As I was preparing to print more route sheets for this ride, I noticed that someone has significantly changed the long route (https://ridewithgps.com/routes/41538044) so that it no longer goes down Rocklin Rd and over to Del Mar to get to Sierra College. It now goes around to the Bass Pro Shop. I wish whoever did this renamed this new route rather than modified this one without changing the name since I personally liked that the routes split and came back together at several points. At this late date, I will use the modified route to avoid confusion. However, I will be adding back my version of this route under a different route number.

Here is the RWGPS link for the short route since I did not provide it with the previous emails: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/41538053

I meant to add that if you plan to do the short route, but want to start earlier you are also welcome to leave as soon as you sign in and get a route sheet. Keep in mind that I won’t be leaving until 8:30 am, so if you need any help you may have to wait awhile for me to come by.

I was overly optimistic that I could start my ride tomorrow to Pause Coffee in Loomis later thinking we wouldn’t have any more really hot days. Well, I was wrong. It’s going to be 103-105F tomorrow depending on which weather forecast you follow. I think the 8:30 am start is still OK for the short route, but probably not for the long route. So I will be at the start in Maidu Park 5-10 minutes before 8 am, so that anyone who wants to do the long route can leave as soon as they sign in and get a route sheet. Michele Fortes has kindly offered to sweep the long route, but she will be leaving at 8. I strongly suggest if you plan to do the long route that you start by 8 am. I will still sweep the short route leaving at 8:30 am. If you want to do the long, but don’t want to leave until 8:30, keep in mind that you won’t be swept after the long and short routes split at Barton and Olive Ranch Rds. Also, if you start off doing the long you can always switch to the short if you decide it’s too hot. Both routes are on one sheet so switching should be easy. There are 3 points where you can switch: 1) Barton and Olive Ranch, 2) Del Mar and Sierra College and 3) English Colony and Humphrey. The routes are the same after the rest stop. Be sure to bring plenty of water. I usually carry my Camelbak filled with ice on these hot days. Keeps your back cold as well as the water cold. Hope to see you out there and stay cool.
