This coming Sat. marks the second anniversary of the Barrio ride series. OK, if you go by the day of the week, today is the anniversary, but if you go by actual number of days, it's Sat. Although I'd scheduled a ride on that day, I had to cancel it due to a sudden scheduling conflict. So we'll just have to observe this momentous occasion a day early, on tomorrow's ride to Bella Bru in Natomas.
I took a look back at what transpired since that first ride to La Bou by the Zoo; here are some stats. Over the past 104 weeks, 111 rides were conducted, to 24 locations, with a total of 468 participants (not including myself) who rode roughly 3200 aggregate route miles. The destination most visited was Cottage Mart, followed by Tree House Cafe and Freeport Bakery.
There were 51 rides last year; this year we've already done 46. During the period starting with the inaugural ride to the end of 2023, we averaged essentially one ride per week; this year we're a little ahead of that, and if the current rate continues we'll hit 60 by year's end.
Given the occasion, the registration deadline for tomorrow's ride will not be applied; you can register as late as 8 AM tomorrow. Or just show up. Ride departs at 8:30 from the NE corner of the parking lot at 35th Ave. and S. Land Park Dr.
