SBH Ride Updates

This Saturday's Folsom Hill Training Series
Author Last Post
Thanks to all of the SBH'ers who come out today to support us in our first ride lead! It was a great day for cycling and we had a wonderful group of riders, including one non-member who is looking for a club to join!

And thanks to all of you who provided excellent suggestions and encouragement in our preparation to lead this ride! It was much appreciated.

Hope to see you again when we host round 2 of this series in a couple of weeks on Feb. 12th, Super Bowl Eve!

Aloha!
Fay and Rob DuBois
Oops, thanks - fingers slipped. I know Rob is the leader and he is a great ride leader. Not sure what happened there. Sorry about that.
Jim

If anyone is the least bit hesitant about the name of the ride don't worry about it. This is a great ride to experience 5 hills of varying degrees. (From almost flat to "you mean you can actually ride up that!")
It is also time to get to know your fellow club members . If you have not done a ride with the club before this is a good opportunity. Club members there will be more than happy to show you the ups and downs. I have done this ride many times and will be happy to meet a new rider(s). That way it will be easier for me to figure out which of the hills to climb, cause I love them all.
Plus Pete is a great ride leader.
Come on out!

I'll bring my spare printed cue sheets to the ride this Saturday (2022/01/29). I have 7 copies of (Warm up + loops 1 thru 5), 14 copies of loop 6 and 13 copies of loop 7.

So, no excuses for not coming out 🚴🏽

Peter

Using the link under the Excel Route sheet is definitely the preferred method. The reason for this is that it provides a copy of the route sheet that has already been formatted to our club standards and is in the format everyone is used to seeing.

I have included a snip of the RWGPS page for one of the routes for those not familiar with seeing the link

I was given some sage advice on generating route cue sheets for which I'd like to update my original message. And here goes:

Here are easier ways you can create a cuesheet for any of the loops from the club's library:

1) Click on this link to go to the club's Ride w/GPS website: SBH Ride w/GPS Website

2) Enter in the "Name" box: Hill Train-Folsom and press enter

3) Click on any of the routes under the Name column

4a) You can then do either of these methods:

5a) Click on the link under "Excel Route Sheet". This will create an Excel file which you can then open and print.
(This is probably the easiest one to do and the one recommended by my Jedi masters!! Emoji)

or

5b) Click the More button in the upper left corner section which will give you a drop-down menu

6) Click Print Map and Cue PDF which will open a new browser tab

7) Unselect the "Include Map" in this new tab

8) Scroll down to the "Cuesheet Option" where you can play around with the "Orientation", "Rows & Colums" and "Font size" values before clicking the "Submit" button in the "Finalize" section.

9) This will create a PDF file for you to open and print

And that's it!! Just repeat this process for any/all of the loops you may consider doing.

Sorry for causing any possible confusion!

Rob

Come on out this Saturday, 1/29, to the 1st of 3 in our hill training series. Get your climbing skills fired up!! This is your opportunity to prepare yourself to conquer all of those hills which have intimidated you.

Here's the link on the SBH event calendar which has the Ride w/GPS links for all of the loops, 2 warm-ups and 7 hill routes:

Folsom Hill Training Event

Start time is 9am at the Bel-Air Market at the Broadstone Marketplace, E. Bidwell St. and Broadstone Pkwy, in Folsom. You can park between Bel-Air and AAA.

Pick the loop or loops you want to ride. You can repeat a loop as many times as you'd like, if you so desire! Make it as challenging as you want! Have fun with it!

The weather for Saturday is supposed to be sunny, but a bit on the cool side at the start, almost 50 degrees with a high of near 60 degrees at noon. Great cycling weather!! So, layer accordingly. The nice thing is that you can shed those extra jackets, etc. back at your car after any loop.

Please note that the ride leaders will not sweep any of loops.

We recommend that you generate and print your own cue sheets for the loop(s) you may want ride.

If you're not familiar with this process, here's one way you can create a cuesheet for any of the loops from the club's library:

1) Click on this link to go to the club's Ride w/GPS website: SBH Ride w/GPS Website

2) Enter in the "Name" box: Hill Train-Folsom and press enter

3) Click on any of the routes under the Name column

4) Click the More button in the upper left corner section which will give you a drop-down menu

5) Click Print Cuesheet, then click Print (in very small letters) at the bottom right after the cue sheet's last turn instruction

6) And that's it!! Just repeat this process for any/all of the loops you may consider doing

There will be a limited number route sheets available for each loop at the start.

Hope to see you on Saturday!!

Fay and Rob
