SBH Ride Updates

Ride Tomorrow (10/26) to Lenise’s Cafe
Author Last Post

I spoke with Doug Souvignier who informed me that Ed Mayer passed in an accident. I fondly remember Ed from rides out of the Roseville area. Ed had an open invitation to stop by his house and have a beer after the ride. We all go sometime, but I regret not taking Ed up on his offer at least once.

Peter.

It was Ed Mayer. I put his name in the title but apparently it didn't come through.  Sorry.

I plan to ride the road, long, route and am happy to sweep riders on that route.

Peter.

Some of you may have  known him. He was killed Thursday evening driving the wrong way on 80 and smashing into a divider. Still  a mystery on what he was doing at that hour, although several of us had noticed cognitive decline for awhile, but could never have predicted this. A really nice guy; I've known and ridden with him for over 30 years.

Looks like the weather will be good for my ride to Lenise’s Cafe tomorrow. It will be mostly sunny and the winds low (~ 3 mph), but it will be a bit chilly, around 55F at the start and only about 70F at the finish. There are both short and long road and gravel routes. There are always people doing the short road route, so don’t worry about company on that one. I will sweep the short gravel unless no one wants to do that in which case I will switch to the short road route. If you plan to do one of the longer routes, it would be good to get a friend to ride with you otherwise you might be riding alone. Here are the RWGPS links for the routes:

Road, long: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/46794841

Gravel, short: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/46794611

Gravel, long: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/46794698

The ride starts at 9 am at the northeast corner of the parking lot for South Hills Shopping Center near 35th Ave and South Land Park Dr.
